Week 10 EOC: Permotion without discounting

My advertising idea is to per mote the "how ever you want it cigar" and Salsa Night Thursdays. Beautiful women servers mixed wide with comforting music to create the home bodied experience of luxury at an affordable price.

The core of this business will revolve around the on site rolling station where customers can sit and watch as their personalized cigars are being made. As a more in-depth experience, for a monthly fee customers can rent out lockers and have their cigars to be stored and available for when ever they come in.

This place will be readily available with a fully stocked bar and assorted fried snacks to accompany our customers while they enjoy the comfort of good conversation around the personalized hand rolled cigars.

Week 8 EOC: Creative content

My creative content will consist of an advertizement poster for Leisure's Cigar Bar. I would like it to   contain all of the fun and innovated aspects of the the bar. It will contain a full menu for all cigar's, drinks and assorted edibles, along with different activity's to enjoy while relaxing, in you're new home away from home.

One of the biggest attractions, I would really like emphasize on it,  is it's unique experiance in  having all the cigars that are sold in the bar, are hand rolled on location. It well have a picture of the the location, all the colors and design of the logo, along with its mission statement.

Marketing Mix

"Guided by marketing strategy, the company designs an integrated marketing mix made up of factors under its control—product, price, place, and promotion (the four Ps). To find the best marketing strategy and mix, the company engages in marketing analysis, planning, implementation, and control. Through these activities, the company watches and adapts to the actors and forces in the marketing environment. We will now look briefly at each activity" (http://digitalbookshelf.artinstitutes.edu/books/9780558851903/id/ch02fig04)

Leisure's marketing segment would be geared to the upper income consumers because the main focus of the "however you want it cigar" would be costly.  Cigar's are already a niche market in themselves but what sets our target market apart, is that we are focusing on having a unique place where cigar coniseurs can create their own, kind of like Build A Bear."A company with limited resources might decide to serve only one or a few special segments or “market niches.” Such “nichers” specialize in serving customer segments that major competitors overlook or ignore. For example, Ferrari sells only 1,500 of its very high-performance cars in the United States each year, but at very high prices—from an eye-opening $229,500 for its Ferrari F430 F1 Spider convertible to an astonishing more than $2 million for its FXX super sports car, which can be driven only on race tracks (it usually sells 10 in the United States each year). Most nichers aren’t quite so exotic. White Wave, maker of Silk Soymilk, has found its niche as the nation’s largest soymilk producer. And although Logitech is only a fraction the size of giant Microsoft, through skillful niching, it dominates the PC mouse market, with Microsoft as its runner up" (http://digitalbookshelf.artinstitutes.edu/books/9780558851903/id/ch02box02).

What positions Leisure's cigar experience apart from the other cigar shops and lounges, is the uniqueness of the client getting to choose the different ingredients for their cigars.  It will be up to management to recommend certain types that enhance each other as well as offering Leisure's own speciality concoctions. " A product’s position is the place the product occupies relative to competitors’ products in consumers’ minds. Marketers want to develop unique market positions for their products. If a product is perceived to be exactly like others on the market, consumers would have no reason to buy it.  Positioning is arranging for a product to occupy a clear, distinctive, and desirable place relative to competing products in the minds of target consumers. As one positioning expert puts it, positioning is “why a shopper will pay a little more for your brand.”14 Thus, marketers plan positions that distinguish their products from competing brands and give them the greatest advantage in their target markets" (http://digitalbookshelf.artinstitutes.edu/books/9780558851903/id/ch02lev3sec5).

In this type of niche market the price is going to be more excepting.  Leisures will be able to afford to charge the customer the higher price, because cigar costs have a large range and the fact that client gets to have "full control" over their purchases.  The place would need to be located in a central location where there would be the "cigar niche" market.  I chose the location to be in Seven Hills and is catacornered off of Anthem, where the wealthier class of Vegas resides.  Promotion would be taken in several different routes such as contacting all the local magazines and newspapers and inviting them to rate the quality of the cigars.  There is also always the several different avenues of promoting on the internet and attending networking functions."The marketing mix is the set of controllable, tactical marketing tools that the firm blends to produce the response it wants in the target market. The marketing mix consists of everything the firm can do to influence the demand for its product. The many possibilities can be collected into four groups of variables known as “the four Ps”: product, price, place, and promotion" (The marketing mix is the set of controllable, tactical marketing tools that the firm blends to produce the response it wants in the target market. The marketing mix consists of everything the firm can do to influence the demand for its product. The many possibilities can be collected into four groups of variables known as “the four Ps”: product, price, place, and promotion" (http://digitalbookshelf.artinstitutes.edu/books/9780558851903/id/pg53)

Target marketing strategy

"The company must first decide who it will serve. It does this by dividing the market into segments of customers (market segmentation) and selecting which segments it will go after (target marketing). Some people think of marketing management as finding as many customers as possible and increasing demand. But marketing managers know that they cannot serve all customers in every way. By trying to serve all customers, they may not serve any customers well. Instead, the company wants to select only customers that it can serve well and profitably" (http://digitalbookshelf.artinstitutes.edu/books/9780558851903/id/ch01boxs14).

The target market I want to closely hone in on is men ages 25-60.  To go further in depth, the type of men that will be most attracted to Leisures, are mostly men from the higher income classes.  As for the younger higher income, which would be from ages 25- 35, I would be focusing mostly on self employed, probably men that have a focus in sales.  The reason for this is, because self employed individuals work that much harder to make money so that they do have the income to support their various hobbies.  From research I have gathered that men whom work in sales tend to have a more expensive taste, they always want what is the best at the time.  As for the older men, ages 36-60, they are either established in a steady career with  a steady income and need to blow off steam or they are in the midst of retirement years and are gearing more towards what they can do to take up their time.  Leisures would be a very tempting place to escape, kind of like a man cave, but more refined.

"To design a winning marketing strategy, the marketing manager must answer two important questions: What customers will we serve (what’s our target market)? and How can we serve these customers best (what’s our value proposition)?-- The company must also decide how it will serve targeted customers—how it will differentiate and position itself in the marketplace. A brand’s value proposition is the set of benefits or values it promises to deliver to consumers to satisfy their needs" (http://digitalbookshelf.artinstitutes.edu/books/9780558851903/id/ch01boxs14).

The way I will serve this target market of men is simply by sticking to my mission statement.  Leisures, your home away from home.  The design of the cigar bar is to have the best quality, in a mans environment that portrays sophistication and class with comfort.  It would be a place for men to congregate and bring their friends to blow off steam and just be men.

Objectives

"The company needs to turn its mission into detailed supporting objectives for each level of management.  Each manager should have objectives and be responsible for reaching them" (http://digitalbookshelf.artinstitutes.edu/books/9780558851903/id/ch02lev2sec2).
The broader objectives of Leisures is to bring in clientele that wants a place to relax and enjoy finer qualities such as the uniqueness of hand rolled cigars with lavish choosings, premium alcohol, both domestic and imported, a gratifying food selection, in a palatial atomsphere.  "Marketing strategies and programs must be developed to support these marketing objectives.--Each broad marketing strategy must then be defined in greater detail" (http://digitalbookshelf.artinstitutes.edu/books/9780558851903/id/ch02lev2sec3)

Leisures main attraction is the fact that their will be the availability to a cigar rolling station.  The manager of this needs to do much research in what are the most sought after cigars on the market.  The next step would be to find out what the best cost saving avenue would be in order to get the right ingredients to recreate and specialize the cigars.  It would be especially important to budget in how to keep the ingredients as fresh as possible through transport which would be largely cost consuming.  Most of the investing would go towards making this unique one of a kind cigar centered attraction.

Another attribute that would set leisure's aside from other cigar bars would be to find what spirits would go best with what flavored ingredients the cigars offer.  This would take a manager that has a very distinctive palate that would be willing to go the extra mile and compare the unique cigar creations with the different hints of flavors from the alcohol.  Upon research, Arturo Fuente, is one of the most attractive cigars in the market because of the consistency in flavor and quality.  This cigar has a nutty flavor that lingers on the palate and a splash of spice.  A great pairing  with this type of cigar would be a fine bourbon, and preferably Woodford Reserve, which is known for its smooth oak and nut flavor, that has a spicy kick in the end.  The combination of the sweet fruity aroma of this bourbon and the mild nutty aroma of the cigar, would be a tantalizing treat for a customer who just wants to relax and not think about anything but being pleased.

"This broad mission leads to a hierarchy of objectives, including business objectives and marketing objectives. Kohler’s overall objective is to build profitable customer relationships by developing efficient yet beautiful products that embrace the “essence of gracious living.” It does this by investing heavily in research and design (R&D). Research and design is expensive and requires improved profits to plow back into research programs. So improving profits becomes another major objective for Kohler. Profits can be improved by increasing sales or reducing costs. Sales can be increased by improving the company’s share of domestic and international markets. These goals then become the company’s current marketing objectives" (http://digitalbookshelf.artinstitutes.edu/books/9780558851903/id/ch02lev2sec3).

Business mission statement

Core Mission Statement: Leisure's, your home away from home.

"Mission statements should be meaninful and specific yet motivating.  They should emphasize the company's strenghts in the marketplace.  Too often, mission statements are written for public relations purposes and lack specific, workable guidelines.-- Finally, a company's mission should not be stated as making more sales or profits, profits are only a reward for creating value for customers.  Instead , the mission should focus on customers and the customer experience the company seeks to create" (Gary Armstrong and Philip Kotler. Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, 10th Edition. The Art Institutes. Web. 20 March 2013<http://digitalbookshelf.artinstitutes.edu/books/9780558851903/id/ch02lev2sec2>.).

Company Product Oriented Definition: It is Leisures Cigar Bar's mission is to beckon guests to our luxurious atmosphere by enticing each of the five senses by assisting them in creating the simplest pleasure of a Leisurely time.  We assist in all matters Leisurely.

I decided to go with a mission statement that was short in sweet in order to get to the core of what Leisures is really about.  The name of the cigar bar speaks for itself.  The definition of Leisure is, time free from the demands of work or duty, when one can rest, enjoy.  The name encompasses the core mission statement.  If you think about it, where does one really relax and let go, and truly just be; at home.  Therefore it is our mission to create that home away from home, where the client can simply kick back and allow their minds and bodies to fully let go of all of the worries that wear them down.

Week 8 BOC: Progress on my final project-Bar

I have come up with the idea create a cigar bar. The name will be Leisure's Cigar Bar, It's location is in 9480 S. Eastern Ave, Henderson NV

Week 7 EOC: Bar Pitch

Centrally located in Henderson off of Eastern Ave, I would like to put together a Cigar bar named Leisure's. I would like it to be a place where the young and seasoned come together and share tides with one another over a nice hand rolled cigar.

Leisure's should offer a wide variety of beverages form the finest coffee to beer and spirits, to accompany, the sen-satiable full flavored cigars. I would also like to have it to have it's own unique assortment of snacks custom made for the bar. The biggest attraction I feel would be it's own rolling station where customers can come in and have cigars tailor made to their liking.

The ultimate goal is to provide a very relaxed and fun environment to witch a customer can come and digress from all of life's small problems. It's you're home away from home.

Week 6 EOC: Me Times Three

This picture is something I took the day these Shoes arrived in the mail.

These shoes I stood in line for at San Francisco and waited 6 hours only to not receive them. The amount of people standing in line for these shoes was tremendous. However, even though I did not get the shoes that day,  the experience of just being there and rekindling the moments, of my child and the shoes first surfaced are the reason is to why go and stand in and wait these really long lines for these shoes. A few months later did purchase the shoes of a very well trusted site just to make sure I had them.

I took this picture from my cell phone in my living room.

Though I don't own this camera, (yet) it is a huge part of who I am today. I spend countless hours looking through a lens, looking for that perfect shot, to portray that perfect moment, whether its through a still image or moving one. When I have that camera in my hand nothing else in the world exists accept for whats on the other end. I'm contently looking for new equipment to put on my lists of things to get in the future to upgrade the sensation of my work.

Week 5 EOC: Super-bowl Commercial

http://www.youtube.com/user/tidelaundry/featured?v=YoOfBVraMNw

I for one, really enjoyed the the tide commercial. I felt it really caught Americas attention by being very interactive with the fan base. Both Niner and Raven fans's alike where pulled into the commercial and caused great deal of competitiveness among both sides.
"His former team may have come up short, but Joe Montana was one of the big winners of the Super Bowl.
According to USA Today's Ad Meter, Montana's Tide ad was the second-most popular ad of the night. Being runner-up in the ad competition likely feels a lot better than finishing second in the game itself."(http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/05/joe-montana-stain-super-bowl-commercial-tide-video_n_2625518.html )

The commercial had 3,918,178 views on Youtube. At the height of the commercial Many Niner fans tweeted great things of the commercial, giving praise to the Joe Montana stain. A lot of negative soon came after, once the it was washed away by by a Ravens fan.

Week 4 EOC: There's an app for that?

It’s 7:30 am and you have to be to work at 8 o’clock. You rush and do your morning routine bath, get dressed, a cup of coffee, maybe a bagel. You’re on way out the door and realize that you’re car keys are not where you left them. After tearing up the house you realize that instead of putting where you normally do, you brought them in to the bathroom with you when you got home. Now youre late for work and you're boss fires you.

Well If only there was an app that could help you locate you're keys from you're phone, you would still have a job. I purpose an idea with an app called, "FindMe". All you would have to do is Buy a small pack of sensors That could attach to things like you're keys, remotes,  wallets and any small accessories, download the app and presto never lose the little nick-nack, yet important things again.

All you have to do when you lose you're key's is run the app, the little sensor attached to key's will send a signal to you're  phone which will register as one of three different colors. Green meaning you are far away, yellow meaning you're close and red meaning you've found it.

Unfortunately There is an app for finding you're keys with you're phone its called stick-and-find for the Iphone.

Week 3 EOC: My Demographics

My demographic is made up of that of the millennial’s. A group of individuals born around the years of the 1980’s to 2000’s. It is said to be that the millennial generation are to be some of the biggest consumers to date. With a great deal of knowledge in the technology department, Gen y is current changing the way marketing is being used as far where to promote new and different products. “Sell a lifestyle based on trust and emotion – not a product.  McD’s now playing Hip Hop music and not talking about their juicy burgers. Why? Selling lifestyle: diversity is key and everyone looks like they are having fun with friends while eating at McDs – it’s about lifestyle.  Those who might not like McDonald’s may not like it because they prefer a different lifestyle – perhaps a healthier lifestyle?”(http://theechoboom.com/2010/09/the-echo-boom-statistics/ )

As very divers over populated group, Gen Y is said to become the dominate group of America in the market. · The next dominant generation of Americans
  • It’s predicted that by 2010, the Gen Y population will be 32% of total population.
· Spending is already making an impact on the economy
· Big Spenders - $170 million of own and parents money
In conclusion my generation is of the up and coming to rule in the market place.

Week 3 EOC: Making Money for Good

In today’s business market, entrepreneurs’ have come up with a new innovated way to marketing their business. By coming up with non-profit and charitable originations, they have found a way to make money by giving back to the communities and maintain a steady growth in their company.

Company’s like TOMS Shoes, is on the forefront of this new business endeavor. What matters most to you? Should you focus on earning a living, pursuing your passions, or devoting yourself to the causes that inspire you? The surprising truth is that you don’t have to choose—and that you’ll find more success if you don’t. That’s the breakthrough message of TOMS’ One for One movement. You don’t have to be rich to give back and you don’t have to retire to spend every day doing what you love. You can find profit, passion, and meaning all at once—right now” (START SOMETHING THAT MATTERS) BOOK)

This new wave of community-based entrepreneurship as made a big Impact on the young adults of today. “A new generation of consumers, influencers, and entrepreneurs has come of age--and its outlook on doing business is revolutionary. Millions of children born between 1980 and 2000, commonly known as Generation Y, have matured into adulthood with a unique worldview that is firmly entrenched in the beliefs that anything is possible and anyone can make a difference.”. (www.inc.com/ REBEL WITH A CAUSE | Brent Freeman)

Companies like Oliberté, Falling Whistle, and Jack’s Soap are some of the new competitors, competing for making the world a better place.  Oliberte, created by Becky Straw, is a for-profit footwear company that helps create jobs for the women of Africa, creating a safe environment for them to develop valuable skills for the workforce. At Oliberte, we believe that the only way to continually bring pride and prosperity in Africa is if it is a joint effort by several persons, brands and partners. “Ambassadors” will feature subjects who are directly or indirectly working with non-profit or social good organizations or those who exemplify a passion for Africa and its citizens.”(http://www.oliberte.com/pages/becky-straw-the-adventure-project/).

Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group - Video Games

The environmental forces against the gaming industry is due to the countries recession.  The only way gaming companies will survive, is their adaptability.  The question is whether the various gaming companies will come up with strategic planning in order to recover from this economic downfall.

Upon research, I expect to see Apple INC. to become the latest cash cow on a slow decline towards the dog category.  With the ability to offer an abundance of different gaming apps for low cost or not cost at all, as well as the supporting of past years profits, Apple INC will survive this economic down turn but it is on it's way to peaking due to competitors such as Samsung.  According to a post in The Economist, “Yet even if it produces a cheaper iPhone, pushes deep into China and wows the world with a smart TV, its shares will not reconquering last year’s peak. Competition is now tougher in its core markets. Rivals will not let it disrupt new ones so easily. Apple may dip into its $137 billion cash lake to boost its share price by paying fatter dividends or buying back more stock. That would delight some investors, but others would see it as a tacit admission that the firm’s great innovation engine has stalled. Apple won’t crumble, but it has peaked” (The Economist (from the print edition: Business, 1).

Companies such as Sony, Microsoft INC, and Nintendo are slowly declining from cash cow's down to the dog category.  Analysts expect Sony to cut the price on its PS3 by about $100 this year, leading to price cuts by Microsoft on some of its Xbox 360 models. The PS3 starts at about $400, compared with the equivalent Xbox 360, which costs about $300. Though Nintendo has said it won't cut prices on its $250 Wii this year, it is expected to do so indirectly by bundling games with the console” (Kane, 2).   Sony decided to reduce prices on the PS3 models in order to make possible profit; which shows signs of them divesting in their companies products which supports the idea of their slow decline to Dog.  Microsoft is following Sony's lead towards divesting as well by cutting their prices on Xbox 360 models which will in turn make many gaming supporters happy, but possibly holding out to see if further drops will ensue.

Nintendo is trying to hold on to being a cash cow by refusing to lower prices on game consoles even with their 38% plummet in profits on Wii (Kane, 1).  Instead, Nintendo has taken a different approach compared to brands such as Sony and Microsoft.  “Many videogame executives say they remain positive about the industry, pointing to coming releases of big titles.  Nintendo is launching “Wii Sports Resort,” a collection of resort sports games, this week.--Though Nintendo has said it won't cut prices on its $250 Wii this year, it is expected to do so indirectly by bundling games with the console” (Kane, 2).

Nintendo may be taking on different approaches compared to Microsoft and Sony, the company is still investing into new games and cutting costs in a much more creative way than the competitor companies.  Nintendo, was in fact trying to hold tight to the idea of staying a cash cow through innovative thinking; but profit losses show that their innovative thinking is bringing them down to the Dog category.

Week 1 EOC: Great customer service

Great customer service to me begins with a smile. Its all about making the customer feel welcome and at ease. “Marketing is all about creating value for customers.”pg 6. Making a customer comfortable, makes them valuable, by giving them a welcoming experience, a company can open the doors for loyal repeat customers.

Week 1 EOC: My Voice

As a creative thinker, my passion is beyond filmmaking. I inspire to inspire, to move my audience and compel their emotions while at the same time entertain them. I have three major things in my life and that’s a past, a present and future.

My past, consist of young boy, who while the world beneath him hurtled with chaos, would often times sit high on the roof writing songs or poems, creatively thinking of a way to escape the harshness of life. My present, stands a young, overly driven man, who without that past could never understand, nor put fourth what it take to put together any creative thought, that would even remotely move or compel someone. My future, I envision two things. The first, to gain the respect as a professional and innovator in my craft, the second is to have inspired and compelled other like minds to bring fourth new innovated ideas to the film world.
